Vintage Brilliant Blue C.C.B. Co. (Coca Cola Bottling Co.) Seltzer Bottle

Description

This handsome 12 1/2 inch tall vintage seltzer bottle is enough to cheer you up, like a bright blue sky after a long dreary day of rain..!!  Looking much like a piece of high end Czechoslovakian art glass, it was actually a functional piece, used to dispense sparkling water in soda fountains and bistros in the 1930's.  Picture Shirley Temple being served a Coke made with the spritz of seltzer.  Or, Clark Gable and Carole Lombard being served a rum and Coke with the spritz!  Quite glamorous indeed, including the Art Deco design -- sleek, geometric verticals enhanced with gemlike facets on the shoulders and base.  A nice design also decorates the front of the bottle.  C.C.B. Co. (standing for Coca Cola Bottling Company) is etched into a banner with Greensburg, Pa. beneath it in a stylized ribbon.  Please see photos for complete design and other details.  Although these bottles were transported in wooden cases, this one shows very, very little evidence of casewear.  Other than a couple of teensy flecks on the bottle, too small to photograph, there are 2 small chips pointed out on the base, which do NOT show when displayed.  Again, please see photos.  The shiny metal cap is an unusual one, incised THE BEAR. N.Y. 57 -- cute!!  The glass siphon tube is intact and shows within the bottle.  There is a small raised logo on the bottom which is indecipherable, but can be seen in both photos.  Made in Czechoslovakia is etched in the bottom also.  The bottle is clean, clear and sparkling, inside and out, which shows off the beautiful brilliant blue color to the max.  Remarkable vintage condition!  Wow!! Truly an outstanding piece to bring light, life and color to almost any surface or windowsill.
